On Being a Polymath
The idea of a place dedicated to being a polymath and writing about other polymaths started to form about two years ago.
In the interim, I started seeing the word more often, interestingly, mostly associated with women musicians and composers.
However, The Polymath isn't merely to speak about being a polymath and polymaths. That would be very restrictive and non-polymath. The Polymath is a multi-faceted space for exploration, curiosity, and connection—where ideas, practices, and creative pursuits intersect. It is a place to reflect on the ways knowledge, art, and culture inform one another, and to share insights not just about polymaths themselves, but also about the mindset and approach that being a polymath encourages.
On The Polymath, you will find reflections and notes across music, culture, and human experience. You’ll also find Maps & Readings—already available to anyone seeking clarity or resonance. In time, Polymath will also offer Creative Guidance Sessions for artists, musicians, and other creators, adapted from our Listening Room HQ framework. This space is meant to bridge curiosity and practical engagement, offering ideas and experiences that invite deeper thinking and exploration.
Being a polymath, for me, is both a personal journey and a lens through which I experience the world. It means following curiosity wherever it leads, connecting ideas across disciplines, and embracing the freedom to explore without restriction. This site reflects that approach, sharing not just observations about others, but also the ways I navigate creativity, culture, and human experience in my own life.
